Yep, I'm expecting :) I think i'm about 9 weeks along and my first doctors visit is this Friday!
So I've been doing A LOT of thinking these past few weeks. Pacifier v. no pacifier. Breast v. bottle. Cloth v. disposable diaper.
I absolutely do not want to start a dependent relationship between my child and a passy, nor do i want a "mute button." I believe they hinder speech and social development. The only kind I will consider is more of a teether than a pacifier. Think mouth guard meets passy. I saw one in a Target baby catalog, although I cannot find a link to it online.
As of right now, I plan to breast feed my baby. I think I will pump when possible for the inevitable times when I have to be apart from my child. For bottle time I will use the Platex Drop-In system (http://playtexbaby.com/Bottles/Dropins/Premium-Nurser).
I really like the idea of not buying diapers twice a week and not filling up a land fill with soiled diapers. But I dont want to carry dirty diapers with me if I'm out all day shopping. So I believe I will do cloth diapers (http://www.blueberrydiapers.com/Products_3/Pocket-Diapers_2/b8899_2) while at home and disposable ones when I'm not close to my diaper pail.
So many decisions to make when entering mommy-hood!!!! I'm just trying to do what's best for our family and the little one
When I get around to having kids, I definitely want to cloth diaper them. It's so much better for the environment and cheaper in the long run, especially if you have more than one baby and can recycle some of the diapers from kid #1. I think they sell bags where you can put the dirty cloth diaper in and it keeps the stench from getting into the diaper bag, helping make things a little more sanitary.
